Our story is probably not unlike many other website development companies.  Our roots began with the usual charity efforts associated with creating websites for our families, friends, churches, and organizations.  Whether they were uncomfortable with learning how to create a website, or simply didn't have the time or money to do so, we usually found ourselves eager to lend a hand and create the website for them - and many times it was for our own benefit and fun as much as theirs

Since most of these initial websites were simple and straightforward, the developer in us was just itching to add more - and with so many new services and features appearing on the web every day, the websites were inspiring wish-lists of their own as well.  Unfortunately, much of the new functionality was complex and difficult to add to the initial websites, primarily because they were never designed to be extended in this manner.

Whether the request was for online updating of a website, adding a shopping cart, creating "eye candy", adding a calendar, integrating with eBay, etc., the biggest hurdle continued to be the cost.  The challenges grew as the "What would it take..." conversations became more frequent.  It was quickly realized that almost every one of these small organizations had a couple of things in common:

  • they wanted a custom and personal website that reflected their business and services;
  • they usually had a very limited budget to develop a website - and even less to add new functionality later.

Although there were many products and online services to choose from when creating a website, they were ultimately limited to the templates and features they provided.  Extending a website to include custom services and features usually required paying a developer that either worked for the online service and/or knew their products.  And although many of these small organizations were willing to settle for a generic look-n-feel website to reduce costs, most were not interested in sacrificing the custom services they wanted to provide.

Hence, the task began to find alternatives that included cheaper website resources and custom solutions, thereby providing affordable development of initial websites that were easier to extend as needed.  As we began creating websites for startup and small business customers, we found that several wanted to utilize these same services and techniques to reduce costs.

The rest of the story is simple - as the requests for websites continued to grow to include small and startup organizations, the need to provide affordable website and hosting solutions increased as well.  The result was the creation of KBAA - designed to incorporate these solutions and practices in your web developments.
